As a board we have been meeting to discuss our areas of focus for the coming year. As we have more information on the projects we are working on we will communicate to our members via the website, newsletter and social channels.

  • Rejuvenate the high street and bring retailers together
  • Make Street a great destination again by driving more footfall from Clarks Village to the high street especially to the quieter areas
  • Set up a security group to keep businesses informed
  • Rename Cranhill car park to the High Street car park

Encourage membership across all areas of the business community
  • Recruit as many members as possible
  • Ensure the chamber represents both the high street and other local businesses
  • Marketing campaign that indicates the benefits of the membership
  • Have a visual presence in the high street and Clarks Village
  • Use Mendip connections to see if they can mail to local businesses
  • Host an open afternoon for prospective members

  • Set up some rules around when members can promote their business
  • Issue a questionnaire to find out what members want us to focus on
  • Set up regular drumbeat of communications on socials/newsletters so members are being kept up to date and can see the chamber is having an impact
  • Create regular networking meetings with relevant hosts and guest speakers
  • Create internal business directory and referrals

Develop community projects to support local people
  • Use our wealth of business experience to support the local community
  • Develop a mentoring scheme with the college to connect with local businesses
  • Support businesses with mental health support as well as training on issues that matter to them
  • Set up a careers fair to show people what is available in the local area
  • Build a business to community page on the website

Working together means a greater voice to be able to share local information apply for funding, grants and to be up to date with local businesses. We hope members will offer other members discounts on products of services and recommend each other.
